Thanks for stopping by. You may be asking yourself, so what is this?
Back in January 2016 I launched the Land & Expand newsletter – a weekly digest covering the must read news from the London tech community. It has gone from strength to strength, and hundreds of people are enjoying getting their weekend reading delivered on Friday afternoons. If you haven’t already, you can sign up here.
However, launching the newsletter was only the first of a number of ideas I have for “Land & Expand”.
I have had the privilege of helping Twilio build its European business since 2012, and that challenge remains as fresh as it was some 4 1/2 years ago. I continue to learn something every day thanks to the amazing people I get to interact with on a day-to-day basis.
One of the most frequent questions I get asked is how did you build Twilio in Europe from scratch? What play books did you use, how did you build your network, how did you approach x,y,z challenge? I’m always available to have coffee and share the war stories, but it struck me that getting time in my calendar doesn’t scale.
Therefore this site will be a collection of insights, tips and time savers to help folks curious about how to get started in the London tech scene. To kick things off there are some 4,500 words and tons of links on the common topics and – depending on my work schedule – I will blog here on related topics.
Now, let’s be clear I’m not positioning myself as a guru here. I’m just remembering back to 2012 me, sitting at a single desk in White Bear Yard and thinking, ok what’s first? I know I would have appreciated someone sharing their experience and tips.
Finally I’m lucky to know a lot of ex and current GM’s. I’m aiming to extract their insights and share them with you here. But first things first, let’s get this thing up and running!
